The epitome of British summer holiday destinations, Cornwall is a county in south west England that boasts many fascinating attractions, sights and points of interest and has been one of the United Kingdoms most popular summer holiday destinations for many years.

Encompassing approximately 1,500 square miles, each and every mile of Cornwall is full of interest and intrigue. Starting at the far end of the county, Cornwall runs from the end of the United Kingdoms south west peninsula, right through to its border with Devon and boasts the fantastic fact that wherever one may be in the Cornish county, they will never be more than 20 miles from one of Cornwalls beautiful, sun kissed beaches.

One of the primary reasons why so many people visit Cornwall, with increased popularity throughout the summer months, is due to the countys highly respectable climate. As Cornwall is as far south in England as anyone can go, playing home to Englands most southerly area, the Lizard Point, it profits substantially from the hot, summer air coming from the European countries. Furthermore, with a cooling breeze from the English Channel in the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the north, the climate in Cornwall is often seen by many as the perfect summer holiday weather.

Partially owing to the hot European climate, Cornwalls most popular and notable past time is surfing. Cornwalls streets are filled with surfing shops that hire out all types of surfing accessories, from surfboards to wet suits and can also arrange surfing lessons, regardless of the surfers ability, at one of the local beaches for an often nominal fee. These lessons are carried out by trained surfing instructors in small groups and there aim is to make surfing as fun, enjoyable and safe as possible. Whilst most of the surfing lessons are carried out in groups, there are several surfing schools that carry out one on one lessons, often chosen by those who want to begin to surf regularly.

A large amount of Cornwalls employees, especially in the tourism industries, are from European countries and have come to Cornwall either to study or for the sought after lifestyle. Due to this reason, Cornwall has become somewhat of a wonderful multicultural town. Restaurants are available offering a variety of menus from around the world, whilst some of the festivals that happen throughout the year are wonderful to see for the different cultural inputs and any summer holiday should encompass one of these festivals if possible.

Many of the people who both live and visit Cornwall often find it difficult to say what they enjoy so much about this wonderful part of the United Kingdom. The warm weather and European climate are greatly admired, whilst the easy lifestyle that is so apparent throughout the county is loved by many, both young and old alike. Separately, these factors may not be overly attractive. However, when combined together, they form a magnificent bond and make Cornwall the superb summer holiday destination that it is, has been and always will be.
